Building a Stronger, Safer, More Connected Community

For the past 20 years, I have been working directly with our community — listening to residents, supporting local businesses, and helping organize initiatives that bring people together.

For the past 12 years, I have also been involved in founding and building our Business Improvement Area (BIA). Through this work, I have seen firsthand what can happen when residents, business owners, and community organizations come together with a shared purpose.

One of the challenges in our neighbourhood was that neighbours often did not have enough opportunities to meet one another, support local businesses, or work together. We needed to create those connections.

Through the BIA, we helped create opportunities for people to shop locally, support local businesses, volunteer, participate in community cleanups, contribute to food drives, and work together to improve our neighbourhood.

Making Our Streets Safer

With the support of the BIA, pedestrian safety became one of my priorities.

For decades, people crossing Dufferin Street had faced serious safety concerns, including injuries and accidents. I believed we needed to do more to help protect pedestrians and make crossing the street safer for everyone.

That is why I helped champion the creation of a Safe Crossing Zone at the intersection of Dufferin and Glengrove. The goal was simple: help prevent injuries and accidents and create a safer environment for residents, families, seniors, children, and everyone who uses our streets.

This experience taught me something important, when a community comes together, we can identify problems, find practical solutions, and create meaningful change.

Bringing Neighbours Together

My community work has always been about more than individual projects. It has been about building relationships.

When neighbours know one another, when residents support local businesses, and when businesses invest in the community around them, everyone has an opportunity to benefit.

I have spent years helping create those connections bringing people together, encouraging local business, supporting community initiatives, and working on practical improvements that make our neighbourhood a better place to live and work.

Now, I want to bring that same spirit of community service, collaboration, and practical action to municipal government.

I believe our community deserves leadership that listens to residents, works with local businesses and organizations, and turns community concerns into action.

Together, we can continue building a safer, stronger, more connected community one where neighbours support neighbours and everyone has a voice in our future.
